Code & Zoning Analyst
The Applicant must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Construction Administration, City Planning, or similar. Past experience working for a Construction, Architectural or Engineering firm, and/or field experience as an expeditor at the Department of Buildings, or in other NYC expeditor jobs is essential.
Skills Required:
- Must have working knowledge of the DOB’s system and procedures, as well as other relevant City agencies
- Must have superior knowledge of the NYC Building Code of 1938, 1968, 2008 and 2014
- Must have a working knowledge of the current Zoning Resolutions
- Must have a working knowledge of the International Building Code – IBC
- Must have a strong understanding of the NYC Fire Code and NFPA
- Ability to apply expertise and knowledge of the Building and Zoning Resolution Code to multiple projects as well as oversee a staff of Project Coordinators
- Coordinate and time manage the work flow of Expediters and Coordinators to ensure that Department of Buildings appointments are prepared for
- Hold weekly meetings with staff and Clients to update projects and establish schedules
- Responsible for directing the activities of the Coordinators as well as his/her own projects through the Building Department
- Crucial that applicant be comfortable interacting with design professionals and high level DOB/DOT and FDNY personnel
- Prepare, review, and organize documentation such as Alteration Type I and New Building applications
- Perform in house code reviews, zoning studies, and troubleshoot projects through resolution
- Prepare reports and DOB determinations
- Possess the skills to be able to prepare detailed project spreadsheets using Microsoft Office
- Execute coherent presentations at Client and construction progress meetings
- Ensure that technical staff is responsive to the customer and aware of the projects in circulation
- Strong technical, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills are required
- 5+ years in Construction, Architectural, Engineering, or Expediting firm is necessary
- 5+ years of managerial experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and accountability. Experience must include the supervision of technical staff, performing plan review or developing construction plans for code compliance
